A worthy adversay
Without doubt my favourite fellow pyrate of all time has to be Jeanne de Clisson - also known as the 'Lioness of Brittany'. Upon the death of her husband she sold her family fortune and bought a fleet of ships. She then commanded the ships be painted black and the sails dyed scarlett. Indeed this fabled pyrate then roamed the seas for 13 years during the 14th Century has been quite the inspiration for me, hence my own leanings towards scarlett sails. She also shares a similar tragic history to that - as I have recently learned - of mine own family. Hats off to you my lady - may your ghost haunt the Castle of Clisson forever!
